Superintendent search survey now online and community meetings scheduled for April 25 and 26

With the announcement of Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano’s departure June 30, the Mercer Island School Board has begun the process of seeking a new leader to work closely with families, educators, and the community.  In doing so, it is important that the District obtains input from all of its stakeholders.

The District has established a Superintendent Search page on its web site at and invites the Mercer Island community to participate in one of the scheduled forums at 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 and at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 in the Board Room of the MISD Administration Building, 4160 86th SE. A separate forum for MISD staff will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, also in the Board Room. These forums will be facilitated by the District’s search consultant, Ray and Associates.

In addition, the District has opened an online survey to receive input from staff, students, parents, and members of the community about the characteristics and qualities important to Mercer Island in the selection of a new superintendent.  The survey will close at 6 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017.
