MI Community Scholarship 2022 Recipients

On May 23rd, recipients of the MI Community Scholarship were recognized by the MIHS staff at the annual Awards Celebration held at the Mercer Island High School. In attendance were students, MIHS staff and administrators, PTSA volunteers, families, and friends.

The Mercer Island Community Scholarship is a long-standing Island tradition that celebrates 28 MIHS graduating seniors each spring. This scholarship program is administered by the MI PTA Council in partnership with the MIHS PTSA, MIHS Administration & staff and the greater MI community. Scholarship recipients demonstrate perseverance, a passion for learning, and are positive contributors to both their classroom and the community. Students are identified by MIHS staff from 10 areas: English, Math, Performing Arts, Science, Social Studies, Visual Arts, World Language, College & Career Readiness (CCR), Crest Learning Center and a Principal’s Award. Recipients are celebrated at an annual Awards Night in the spring, where each recipient is honored by a MIHS staff member. Additionally, the recipients receive a scholarship up to $500.

“It is a privilege to be here tonight on behalf of the PTA Council to honor the 27 students who have earned a community scholarship award. You are being recognized not just for your passion to learn, your hard work   and perseverance, it’s also, the “HOW” - how you go about achieving what is important to you.  YOUR approach is to lift-up and support those around you in your community of peers, classmates, and teachers.  It is through your encouragement, your compassion and kindness that you show towards others in all that you do, that helps build a stronger, more inclusive and caring community…And for that reason, we here from PTA Council could not be more proud to award you the 2022 Mercer Island Community Scholarship.” ~ Stephanie Parmenter and Amy Richter, Mercer Island PTA Council VP’s of Programs
