Patrick Rock selected as MISD transportation director

Patrick Rock has been selected as director of transportation for the Mercer Island School District, Superintendent Donna Colosky announced.

The appointment is effective July 1 and was approved by the School Board at its April 23 meeting.  Patrick Rock

“I’m pleased to welcome Patrick to our District leadership team,” Colosky said. “He brings broad experience to our transportation department and has created innovative systems in his current position." 

Rock has served as the dispatch and trip coordinator in the Transportation department for the past four years. His responsibilities in that position has included dispatching all District bus routes and working with parents and district staff to problem solve student transportation issues. He developed and implemented systems for transportation department payroll and attendance tracking and established a comprehensive system for online extracurricular trip requests and created a communication system for urgent transportation notifications.

Rock’s career has also included many years as a real estate broker on Mercer Island and serving as a minister and administrator for the Church of Christ. Raised in a family of educators, he is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. and served as a third officer for the Military Sealift Command Pacific.

Rock will succeed David Bynum, who is retiring June 30 after five years as director and 20 years overall in the MISD transportation department.
