Intra-district elementary transfer requests accepted through April 30

The Mercer Island School District’s intra-district elementary transfer process is designed to provide families with an opportunity to apply for their child to attend a school in a different home school boundary area based on a unique set of circumstances. 

In accordance with Board Policy 3131, the intra-district transfer window opens on April 1 and extends through April 30. Transfer requests will only be accepted during this time. Intra-district transfers may be granted as described in Policy 3131 if the requested elementary school, and/or the grade level within the school, has not reached capacity as determined by the district. 

The form will be available HERE between April 1 and April 30. 

If classroom space allows for transfers and if transfer requests exceed space available, transfers will be approved by a lottery system conducted by the district. If the district grants a transfer request, the family is responsible for transportation and supervision to and from any school outside of their neighborhood attendance area. 

Please complete the online form by April 30. If you have more than one child, please complete a separate form for each child. Families will be notified within 45 days as to the status of their request.
