K-Kids Club raises nearly $10,000 to aid California schools devastated by wildfire

California’s “Camp Fire” last November was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state’s history, causing 85 deaths and destroying nearly 19,000 structures – including homes and schools. The small town of Paradise, CA was devastated.

Lakeridge Elementary K-Kids Club, a community service club sponsored by Mercer Island Kiwanis and Lakeridge PTA, hosted “Lions’ Pride for Paradise Week” April 22-26. A friendly competition between Lakeridge classrooms, families purchased items from Paradise classroom online wish lists. Those donated items were sent directly to schools in Paradise, CA that were devastated by wildfire. During “Lions’ Pride for Paradise Week,” nearly $10,000 in school supplies were donated to Paradise schools! Congratulations to Mrs. Bobst’s 4th Grade Class for donating the most supplies (by dollar amount) – and winning the competition!

K-Kids Club is overwhelmed by the generous support of Lakeridge families and the greater Mercer Island community – and Paradise teachers and students are so grateful for your help. Thanks to all that supported Lions’ Pride for Paradise Week!
