Dave is a scientist and physician, working at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. He is an associate professor at the UW. He holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology, with over 100 publications in the scientific literature, primarily in the fields of virology and marrow transplant pathology. He specializes in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, leukemia and lymphomas, and the pathology of marrow transplantation. Outside interests include the local, state, and national issues of mathematics curriculum. Prior to being elected to the school board, Dave served on the Mercer Island Math Review Committee, the MIHS Homework Committee, coached the IMS Math Team, and guest lectured in calculus at MIHS. He is active in the Pan-American Society for Clinical Virology, the Binford-Dammin Society of Infectious Disease Pathologists, and the Brown Alumni Association. He has resided on Mercer Island for 32 years. He has two children—one a 2008 graduate of MIHS.
