Student Representatives to the Board

STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Representatives to the School Board serve a two-year term as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the student body to elevate student voice.

Student representatives report to the Board on activities and events in district schools, bring student perspective on issues and policies affecting the student body into board discussions, and support the Board's advocacy efforts. Student representatives may cast advisory votes on most matters decided by the Board.

Student representatives prepare for and attend at least one regular school board meeting each month; co-lead and participate in monthly Superintendent Student Advisory (SSA) meetings; meet weekly with MIHS administration; serve as a liaison between the Board and the MIHS Student Senate, ASB and SSA; collaborate with each other, the Superintendent, Board members and/or peers to plan activities; represent the District at state conventions and legislative assemblies; and advocate for the Board's legislative priorities.
