Deborah Lurie Bio

Deborah Lurie grew up on Mercer Island and graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1990. After earning her J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law she returned to Mercer Island in 2010 with her husband Brian and daughter Joey so she could benefit from the great education the Mercer Island School District provides. She became active in the PTSA, receiving a Volunteer Service Award from the Island Park PTSA.​

Deborah is a staff attorney with the King County Department of Public Defense, spending the majority of her career representing parents and children in abuse and neglect cases.

Her community involvement has included the Island Park Elementary PTSA, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Olympic Cascade Aquatics (OCA) Parent Representative, Mercerwood Shore Club Swim Team Committee, the Stroum Jewish Community Center and Herzl Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation.
