Superintendent Student Advisory

Purpose

The Superintendent's Student Advisory (SSA) is a representative student body which meets nine times during the school year. SSA members share student perspectives at meetings and represent the voice of students on issues and policies that directly affect the student body.  Members have the opportunity to collaborate with peers, District administrators and staff on projects to advocate for student interests and concerns.

Meetings

Meetings for the 2025-2026 school year will take place in the Mercer Island High School Library located at 9100 SE 42nd St SE unless otherwise noted. For returning members, please note the change in venue.

Meetings will be held from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays:

5/21/26 - Linkage session with School Board 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Families are responsible for transportation to/from meetings.

Membership

Membership in the SSA is appointed and is comprised of the following:

  • Student representatives from each MISD school, grades 5-12
    • at least four representatives from each grade 8-12
    • two representatives from each grade 6 and 7
    • two 5th grade representatives from each elementary school 
  • Student Representatives to the Board
