Tiered Supports for Parental Monitoring and Supports
Parents expect to be able to monitor their children’s internet and technology use. Starting this year, we will send a weekly email to parents that provides a summary of their child’s web activity, Google searches and videos watched.
For parents that want additional details on student web activity and have supports for pausing the internet, setting offline schedules and creating additional website allow\block functionality, they can install the Securly Home app.
The Securly Home app will work on both MISD laptops and iPads and allow parents to manage MISD devices for all of their children in a single interface. Parents will see web activity on their student’s device both at school and at home, but the features in Securly Home will only apply outside of the MISD schools buildings. Parents cannot pause the internet, set an offline schedule or allow\block websites when students are at school.

You need to downloaded the Securly Home App before you have the ability to pause the internet. This feature only works when the student iPad\Laptop is outside of our school buildings. The Securly Home app will not pause the internet while students are at school.

Some students may need additional support for minimizing distractions and staying engaged with homework. Jamf Parent gives parents the ability to limit the apps that are accessible on the iPad.
The Jamf Parent app is only for iPads and the features in Jamf Parent will only apply outside of the MISD schools buildings.
Open the Jamf Student app on your child's iPad and scan the QR code on your child’s device. If this is the first time you are using Jamf Parent, you must allow Jamf Parent to access the camera to scan QR codes. When prompted, tap Confirm.
Repeat steps 2 through 4 to add more children’s devices.
