Instructional Technology Coaches
Lakeridge, Island Park, Northwood and West Mercer Elementary Schools

Instructional Technology Program

To support teachers' work to integrate technology effectively into their instructional practice, the district utilizes two elementary teachers on special assignment to fill the Instructional Technology Coach role funded by the levy. These coaches serve PreK-2 and 3-5 classrooms at all four elementary schools.

What's an Instructional Technology Coach? Glad you asked!

Kara Millsap (PreK-2 focus) and Julie Hovind (3-5 focus) currently serve as the elementary Instructional Technology Coaches.

Julie left her 5th grade classroom to take on this role in 2008. Kara stepped into this position from her first grade class in 2011. Together they serve teachers and students. Their work focuses on integrating technology into instructional practice. Their work encompasses many important elements to increase teacher capacity. These can include curriculum design to find integration opportunities in units, project ideas, professional development on technology tools and standards, model lessons and co-teaching, grant and pilot implementation support, and multifaceted support as needed.

Please feel welcome to reach out to your classroom teacher or these coaches if you have questions about subscription tools or technology use in elementary school.
