Credits & Clock Hours
Certificated Clock Hours and Credits:
Clock hours are units of credit assigned to educators at a professional development/training event and can be accrued by Washington State educators toward continuing education requirements and advancement on the salary schedule.
- 1 clock hour = 0.1 quarter credit; 10 clock hours = 1 quarter credit.
- All courses must be a minimum of 1 clock hour to be accepted.
- OSPI and MISD are completely separate. MISD cannot access clock hours submitted to OSPI and vice versa.
- Clock hours must be earned from an OSPI approved clock hour provider.
- 45 Credits are deducted from MA Degree credits.
IMPORTANT! Acceptable documents must be received in Human Resources no later than the close of business day on October 15. Credits must have been earned by October 1 to be considered for salary placement in the current school year. Clock hours submitted after October 15 will go towards salary placement for the following school year.
It is highly recommended that you make a copy of the clock hour transcript for your own records. OSPI and MISD are separate and do not share documents.
Acceptable Documentation:
Please do not write on, mark, highlight or staple transcripts or clock hour forms. Documentation will be returned, and a new, clean copy will be requested.

- Registration for the class must be completed through pdEnroller.
- pdEnroller transcripts for all completed classes should be submitted by the employee to Human Resources for salary advancement.
