Visit With Superintendent Rundle at Summer Celebration Saturday, July 15
Mercer Island, WA, July 12, 2023 – The Mercer Island School District will have a booth at the City of Mercer Island Summer Celebration on Saturday, July 15, from 11am to 4pm.
Superintendent Dr. Fred Rundle and District staff and administrators will be at our booth interacting and visiting with community members. We encourage you to visit Summer Celebration and stop by our booth for a MISD goodie bag.
Our brand-new electric bus will also be on hand at the Touch a Truck portion of Summer Celebration for community members to tour.
Summer Celebration takes place at two locations, Mercerdale Park and 77th Ave SE, where we will have our booth from 11am-4pm, and Luther Burbank Park in the evening for music and fireworks.
MISD is providing schools buses for shuttles for community members going to Luther Burbank Park for the fireworks show Saturday evening. Community members can catch a shuttle from City Hall, West Mercer Elementary, or Island Park Elementary to Luther Burbank Park from 5:30pm to 9pm. The shuttle will return riders to each location after the fireworks.
KMIH 88.9 The Bridge will have booth at Summer Celebration and will be broadcasting live. The Mercer Island Schools Foundation will also have a booth.

The National PTA’s Reflections program has once again inspired students from pre-K to grade 12 in Mercer Island School District to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through original artwork. This year’s theme, "Accepting Imperfection," challenged young artists to embrace flaws and express their creativity in unique ways.

All four Mercer Island School District Elementary Schools will be hosting school tours on Wednesday, February 26 and Friday, March 28. The tours will take place from 10am-11am.
Late yesterday evening, individuals trespassed onto the Islander Middle School (IMS) grounds and defaced numerous windows and exterior walls with antisemitic and racist symbols and phrases.
This abhorrent act of hate is not only a violation of our community’s shared values, but an attack on the principles of inclusion, respect, and safety that we work every day to uphold in our community.
