MISD Staff Benefit From Training Session at Northwood with Dr. Vanessa Tucker
Mercer Island, WA, August 22, 2023 – Today at Northwood Elementary MISD staff received a training session from Dr. Vanessa Tucker about how to enable students with autism in the classroom.
Dr. Tucker led staff in a training focused on creating Autism friendly classrooms in our schools. Staff learned about the strengths and characteristics of students with Autism and strategies we can use to effectively support the diverse needs of our students.

The National PTA’s Reflections program has once again inspired students from pre-K to grade 12 in Mercer Island School District to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through original artwork. This year’s theme, "Accepting Imperfection," challenged young artists to embrace flaws and express their creativity in unique ways.

This abhorrent act of hate is not only a violation of our community’s shared values, but an attack on the principles of inclusion, respect, and safety that we work every day to uphold in our community.
