MISD Long Range Facility Planning Committee Looking For New Members
December 12, 2022
Dear Interested Community Member,
The Mercer Island School District is reforming the Long Range Facility Planning Committee to update the MISD Facility Plan for 2023 and beyond. The most recent committee completed a comprehensive update in winter 2020 just when COVID-19 disrupted the world. Since then, variables evolved and a new roadmap is needed to address:
- Enrollment decline;
- Budget challenges;
- Updated demographic findings (coming January 2023); and
- Additional facility needs.
We have some returning members from the last Long Range Facility Planning Committee, but would like to add new members as well. The goal is to create a committee comprised of many perspectives from throughout the community. We anticipate this to be a more condensed committee process since the core plan is in place. You will see from this timeline that your commitment would be roughly 3-4 meetings in April, May, and early June.
If you are interested, please complete this brief survey before Friday, January 6, 2023. We will notify you about whether you have been selected or not by the end of January. Those chosen to participate can also expect further information.
If you have further questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the MISD team who will partner with Mahlum Architects to facilitate the process.
Respectfully,
Fred Rundle
Superintendent
