City of Mercer Island E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety Page

The City of Mercer Island has launched an E-Bike and E-Scooter safety page on their website.
If you or your student rides an E-Bike or E-Scooter we encourage you to visit this page to familiarize yourselves with local laws to ensure your safety and the safety of our community members.
This page addresses the difference between electric motorcycles and E-bikes. Electric motorcycles are a Class 3 E-bike, which means operators must be at least 16-years old with a valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement and the motorcycle is registered with the Washington Department of Licensing. Electric motorcycles are prohibited on soft surface trails, sidewalks, and shared-use paths on Mercer Island.
The page also addresses how the Mercer Island Police Department will be enforcing the laws and rules on the operation of E-bikes and electric motorcycles in our community and how community members should report unsafe or illegal behavior by an E-Bike or electric motorcycle as it is happening.
We believe this new page created by the City will be an excellent resource for our community.

All four elementary schools in the Mercer Island School District will hold an Information Night for new Kindergarten families on Tuesday, January 28, from 6pm-7pm.

The National PTA’s Reflections program has once again inspired students from pre-K to grade 12 in Mercer Island School District to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through original artwork. This year’s theme, "Accepting Imperfection," challenged young artists to embrace flaws and express their creativity in unique ways.

All four Mercer Island School District Elementary Schools will be hosting school tours on Wednesday, February 26 and Friday, March 28. The tours will take place from 10am-11am.
