MIHS Marching Band To Be Featured on Debut of FOX LOCAL Halftime Show

Mercer Island, WA, September 6, 2024 – The Mercer Island High School Marching Band will be featured on the debut of the FOX LOCAL Halftime Show on FOX 13 Seattle on Sunday, September 8 during the NFL on FOX broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys at the Cleveland Browns game. The Cowboys at Browns game starts at 1:25pm.

During halftime of this game there will be a two-minute segment featuring the MIHS Marching Band performing.

“We are thrilled to present The Mercer Island High School marching band performing at halftime during Cowboys at Browns game,” said Jake Wiederrich, FOX 13 VP New Director.

“The FOX LOCAL Halftime Show spotlights talented high school bands from across our great state of Washington. We can’t think of a better way to entertain the hundreds of thousands of fans in Seattle watching FOX NFL Sunday than with an electrifying performance that captures the excitement and pageantry of a football game,” continued Wiederrich.

The Marching Band performance can be seen live this Sunday on FOX 13 Seattle or viewers can stream the entire performance any time by downloading the FOX LOCAL app on your smart TV.

“Our students and band directors are very excited to be the first marching band to be featured on the FOX LOCAL Halftime Show,” said Kyle Thompson, MIHS Marching Band Director. “We know our community will enjoy seeing our segment.”

“We are so appreciative FOX wants to highlight MIHS as well as recognize so many of the other great high school marching bands in our state over the course of the NFL season,” continued Thompson.

Thompson will be a guest on Good Day Seattle on FOX 13 Seattle on Monday morning to talk about the band’s segment on the FOX LOCAL Halftime Show and what the band has planned this year, which includes performing with the Washington State Marching Band on Friday, September 13, at Islander Stadium when the Islanders host Foss. Kickoff for this game is 7pm. The Washington State Band will be performing at The Apple Cup at Lumen Field on Saturday, September 14.

The Marching Band performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November and has performed in the Rose Bowl Parade four times.

The Cowboys at Browns game will feature the debut of NFL legend Tom Brady as a broadcast color analyst.
