David D'Souza Bio

David D’Souza has a background in software engineering, management, and entrepreneurship. At the age of 7, he immigrated to the USA from Mumbai, India with his brother and sister. He attended public school in South Dakota before graduating from MIT and then working as a Microsoft engineer and director on products such as Windows 3, 95, XP, and Internet Explorer both in Redmond and abroad, in India. He now works with education and technology entrepreneurs.

From a community service perspective, he has been fortunate to volunteer in a variety of capacities with the students, teachers, parents, coaches, and district staff. He has been an elementary school science fair judge, a high school DECA judge, and a chess parent volunteer with the students. He has reviewed curriculum for literacy, materials science, computer science, and struggling learners with teachers and staff. He’s worked with parents and district staff as co-President of the Mercer Island Schools Foundation, the Superintendent’s Advisory Council, the Technology Advisory Group, the Diversity Advisory Committee, as the General Chair of the College and Career Readiness Program, and co-chair on the 2014 CMIPS School Bond Committee.

He has two children in the district and a third in college and supports childhood educational programs in Seattle and India.
