The Counseling Department at Mercer Island High School is open from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday when school is in session. Counselors are available from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, except when they attend required building or district directed meetings and trainings.

The Counseling Department offers the Counselor of the Day Table. Students can visit the “C.O.T.D.” table during their off periods or at lunch for drop-in questions with a counselor. A counselor will be at the table Monday through Friday from 8:00am-3:00pm. Parents are also welcome for a quick consult at the C.O.T.D. table if they check in at the main office first.

To schedule an appointment with a Counselor: Students have "drop-in" access to their alphabet-assigned counselors daily. They can also schedule an appointment during their school day for a meeting with their Counselor. Counseling Department Secretaries, Kristin Brintnall and Edith Lopez-Salvador can set appointment times for all the counselors.

Contact Us: Email is the preferred contact method for counselors. The goal is to respond to emails within 48 hours. Often counselors are unable to refer to their emails or voicemails during the day, as they are seeing students throughout the school day. If you have an urgent matter to discuss with a counselor, call the Counseling Center Secretary. This is a more effective way of leaving a time-sensitive message.
