• The Special Education Support Team provides support for district staff in order to best meet the needs of students receiving special education services. Roles and responsibilities of team members are listed below.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Provide training/coaching for district staff (proactive behavior strategies, implementation of positive behavior support plans, implementation of social skills curriculum)
    • Develop, train, monitor Functional Behavior Analysis and Behavior Intervention Plans
    • Develop and disseminate observation and data collection tools for social/emotional/behavioral domains
    • Assist with IEP planning and development 
    • Serve as liaisons to BCBAs contracted by the district
    • Participate at BGT/SST meetings
    • Collaborate with general ed staff to support high-needs students in the general education setting
    • Coordinate and train staff in WA-AIM administration

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Participate and support principals and SST/BGT teams in the pre-referral/referral process and district-wide systems creation
    • Provide training/coaching for district staff (proactive behavior strategies, implementation of positive behavior support plans, implementation of social skills curriculum)
    • Participate in district needs assessment of Positive Behavior Support programs at all Tiers
    • Support general educators in creating behavior plans/protocols outside of special education
    • Provide crisis planning support/member of district crisis planning committee
    • Collaborate with special and general ed staff to support high-needs students in the special and general education setting
     
    Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Specialist Pre-school - Gr. 12

    • Liaison on district curriculum review/adoption/implementation teams
    • Provide training/coaching for district certificated and classified staff (curriculum implementation, providing accommodations/modifications, instructional strategies, data collection, evidence-based decision making, link between special education and Common Core)
    • Identify curricular and progress monitoring resources
    • Assist with IEP planning and development
    • Support district and state assessment for special education students (benchmark, SBA), including reviewing data
    • Assist in creating instructional sequences K-12 with aligned goals and assessments
    • Provide support to general educators to meet the needs of special education students
