ParentSquare

Dear Mercer Island Families,

The Mercer Island School District is excited to announce we are launching ParentSquare, a new school-to-home communication platform, for the 2025-26 school year, on August 1, 2025.

ParentSquare is an easy-to-use communication tool that combines multiple communication streams – email, text, app notifications, and voice calls – into one easy-to-use interface for families. ParentSquare will be used by teachers, schools, the district, school groups, athletic teams, fine arts groups, and other school and district affiliated groups to communicate with families.

ParentSquare Benefits:

  • Enhanced translation capabilities - Families choose their preferred language to receive messages through the mobile app, which will enhance teacher and staff connection with students and families.  Parents and teachers/staff can directly message each other in their preferred languages.
  • Consolidating our communication apps - Messages can be sent to families via email, text, or app notification through the platform which will standardize and simplify how families communicate with all of our schools and programs by reducing the number of platforms families have to monitor.
  • Easy access to student progress updates - Teachers and staff can send documents like test score reports, report cards, and progress reports securely through the platform helping to ensure parents have up to date information on their students progress.
  • Easily accessible communications history with teacher, school, and district - All messages are archived within the platform so that families can see the history of messages sent without having to continually check their email or other platforms.
  • Reminders for upcoming events - A calendar to post upcoming class events, tests, field trips, practices, and other activities that families can subscribe to and submit RSVPs.
  • Community support of MISD teachers, staff, and groups - Ability to give access to a room parent, designated booster member, assistant coach, or other responsible adult to send messages on behalf of the teacher, head coach, or group leader.  PTAs, MISF, athletics teams, and school clubs and groups will have access to the platform to message families.
  • Allows families to customize how they receive messages and keep MISD communications organized - Families can choose to receive messages as they are sent or they can receive one notification at 6pm of all messages sent using the platform’s “Digest” option.
  • Ability to include Sign Ups directly from the ParentSquare Interface - Families can sign up for parent-teacher conferences through the platform.

Below we have a FAQ for families to learn more about ParentSquare.

After the 2024-25 school year ends the ParentSquare platform will send an invitation email to families. This invitation will encourage families to download the ParentSquare app to be ready for the 2025-26 school year.

We are looking forward to the launch of this unified communications platform designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with our schools.

Sincerely,

MISD Communications
