    Dear Northwood Families,

As we enter the final month of the calendar year, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Northwood school community for your continued partnership with our teachers and staff.  We have transitioned into this next phase of schooling during a pandemic, and thank you for modeling and supporting resilience in your children and for supporting and connecting with teachers to find solutions to challenges.  I’m grateful for our students who have cultivated their own flexibility and resilience this year.  I also want to express gratitude for the dedicated educators that I have the privilege of working alongside.  As a community, we have continued to marshall our energy, adjust to each change, and diligently work together to stay safe and healthy and to grow our hearts and minds.

    • Lost and Found

As we move toward Winter Break, please prompt your child to check the Lost and Found for any items of clothing or lunch boxes that go missing over the next few weeks.  Display tables will be set out in the front vestibule the week of December 13 to display remaining lost and found items and encourage them to find their way home.  Please label your child’s clothing/lunch boxes, which makes it easier for these lost items to find their way back to the right child.  Any remaining items will be donated at the end of the school day on December 17.  Thank you!

COVID-19 - Please Notify Office If Positive Case at Home

Please notify the Northwood office if your child or a household member has been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive, even if your child has not yet been to school.  It is important for our staff to know about diagnoses, even if the child has not been in school since exposure/diagnosis, both for maintaining the health and safety of our community and to ensure we provide any quarantining children access to continued learning.  Thank you to all our families for continued adherence to health and safety protocols and for keeping children home when they are ill or when they have been exposed to others with COVID-19.

      Mindfulness and Character Trait Focus

Our Mindfulness and Character Trait instruction continues at Northwood. Each week students are given a mindfulness challenge to practice.  Each month's challenges can be found on our Northwood website here.  For the month of December, we are reviewing with students the positive character traits we have learned about and practiced so far this year:  Resilience, Cooperation, and Gratitude.  Please consider ways you can continue the learning at home by discussing these traits, pointing them out when you see them in family and friends, and considering situations when practicing a given trait might be worthwhile.

      Car Loop Reminders

Please review our Kiss & Go Zone (Car Drop-off & Pick-up) procedures to help us maintain a safe and orderly arrival and dismissal process for our students.  Working together and following safety processes will help all of our families transport their children safely and efficiently.  Thank you for modeling safe choices for our community.

      Respectfully,
