PE Framework

The district's elementary PE teachers collaborate to delvier a well-rounded physical education experience. Several years ago we adopted the Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum (EPEC) and use this as a core resource for skill development. We are also guided by OSPI, Second Steps, SHAPE and as a team we regularly reflect so we know we are preparing students, within the time perameters given, to meet as much of our state's standards from OSPI.

The EPEC curriculum is designed to, "systematically and sequentially increase fitness levels, develop motor skills, increase activity-related knowledge, and develop and improve the personal/social/attitudinal characteristics students need to be physically active for life and to reduce their risk for chronic disease." Students have opportunities to learn, develop competencies and confidence and to prepare for a physically active life.
