Normal school hours are 9:10am to 3:45pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:10am to 2:05pm on Wednesdays. The school office is open from 8am to 4pm. The playground and school grounds are unsupervised before and after school hours.  Please plan for your child to arrive at school no sooner than 9:00am unless they are attending a supervised club or activity.  Children are expected to leave campus at dismissal per their parents daily plan to ensure parents know where they are after school.

    Northwood Family Literacy Night

Northwood’s Family Literacy Night returns this year on Wednesday, February 26 from 5:30-7:00pm.  We are excited to invite parents/guardians and students to come to Northwood for an evening of learning together.  Our Northwood staff have been planning lessons and gathering supplies to make this a great night, and we hope you will join us.  For more information about the evening and to register to attend, please see the attached flier to RSVP.  Remember, you must RSVP by February 14 to attend!

    Northwood Book Fair

Northwood is hosting a Scholastic book fair February 24 – February 27.  Students will have the opportunity to shop and/or develop wish lists during their regularly scheduled library time, recesses & lunchtime. The book fair will be open to parents before and after school, as well.  On February 26, the evening of our Family Literacy Night, we will open the Book Fair for families to shop from the dismissal bell at 2:05pm to the start of Family Literacy Night at 5:30pm.  We will close the book fair for the duration of Family Literacy Night sessions, and then reopen it until 7:15 pm for any late shoppers.  We hope you find some great books to share and read together! Universal Precautions

We are in the height of cold and flu season, and I know many of you are concerned with news of the Coronavirus that originated in China. Please know that we continue to monitor the news, and we also work closely with the Washington State and King County Departments of Health. We have posted information on our Mercer Island School District website to help provide information for our parents, which references some of the recent resources published by these entities. The District also follows administrative policies and procedures to help guide decisions in these circumstances. Included below are links to the District’s Immunization and Life Threatening Health Conditions policies, as well as the Infectious Disease policies for your review.

    Mindfulness and Monthly Character Trait

Mindfulness learning and character trait focus continues at Northwood.  Please see our Mindfulness webpage for more information about the focus of this learning in February. February’s Focus Character Trait is Gratitude.
