    Dear Island Park Families,

Welcome back to school! I hope your summer vacation has been relaxing and filled with laughter and learning. It is with great excitement and anticipation that we begin a new school year.

As the principal of this amazing school, I feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to work with such outstanding students, staff, parents and community members.  I feel so fortunate to be able to share my passion for public education with such a dedicated, supportive and hardworking group. I am confident that we will have a productive and enriching year as we continue our mission of developing compassionate, innovative, collaborative learners prepared to access and contribute to the ever-changing world.

A Greek philosopher wrote: Nothing endures but change.  Nowhere is this truer than in the field of education. Each school year brings new faces and ideas. We recognize and honor the contributions made by those who have recently completed their service at Island Park, and we welcome the arrival of new staff who are sure to affect positive growth in our learners.  I can’t wait for you to meet and greet new and returning staff.

While students have been on vacation, Island Park has been abuzz with activity.  We are registering new students, finalizing class rosters, thoroughly cleaning the building, and planning for a productive school year.   A few thank yous are in order.  First, thank you to the Island Park PTA for warmly welcoming everyone back through events and communications.  Your time and hospitality are so appreciated. Next, thank you to the custodial staff for making our school shine in time for the students arrival.   A big thank you to the office staff for their diligence and dedication in registering new families and getting all systems ready for “take-off.”  Finally, thank you to our incredible staff for their amazing professionalism and incredible energy as they prepare for the start of the school year. Their commitment to insuring that Island Park remains a celebrated and successful school is awe-inspiring.

I eagerly look forward to seeing you and your children. Please feel free to stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all students.

    Warmest regards,

    David Hoffman
