A few Items from the Principal:
Staffing Update – We are excited to share that 5th Grade teacher, Eileen Brecha, has been offered, and accepted, the opportunity to teach at a Hong Kong international school next year. We are equally excited to share that her replacement will be Kristin “Krissy” Babson. Krissy will be moving to the Seattle area from Chelmsford, Massachusetts where she has taught intermediate grades for 16 years. She is looking forward to being closer to her extended family and is excited to team with our fabulous fifth grade cohort.
We wish our resource room teacher, Allison Janshen, continued success as she moves to Northwood Elementary where she will continue her responsibilities as resource room teacher. Heidi Conradt, current special education teacher at Lakeridge, will assume Allison’s Island Park resource room position. Heidi comes with glowing references and a reputation for great work with students and families.
A final updated list of next year’s staff, as well as those who are moving on to Northwood or other opportunities, will be shared at the end of the year.
Islandwood Camp – Thank you to all our fifth grade families for supporting our annual Islandwood outdoor education program. Special kudos to camp chaperones, The Island Park PTA and our amazing fifth grade teachers; their support, planning and endless positive energy produced a terrific learning experience for all. Finally, thanks to our great fifth graders for their stellar participation and behavior.
