2016 Levy Propositions

  • Mercer Island Schools – A Community Investment

In February 2016 two school propositions will be placed before Mercer Island voters.
    • Proposition 1 renews the six-year Capital Projects and Technology Levy to pay for repairs and improvements to school buildings and facilities, plus technology projects that include staff training and computer upgrades.
    • Proposition 2 is a one-year Transportation Levy to replace aging school buses with propane-fueled vehicles.

The election will be an all-mail special election; voters will receive their ballots by mail. King County Elections estimates that ballots will be mailed on January 20, 2016. Ballots must be postmarked by February 9 or returned to a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on the day of the election.
Both of these propositions replace levies that are expiring. They will pay for critical needs in our schools that aren’t covered by the state.
