2016 Levy Propositions
Mercer Island Schools – A Community Investment
In February 2016 two school propositions will be placed before Mercer Island voters.
- Proposition 1 renews the six-year Capital Projects and Technology Levy to pay for repairs and improvements to school buildings and facilities, plus technology projects that include staff training and computer upgrades.
The election will be an all-mail special election; voters will receive their ballots by mail. King County Elections estimates that ballots will be mailed on January 20, 2016. Ballots must be postmarked by February 9 or returned to a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on the day of the election.
- Proposition 2 is a one-year Transportation Levy to replace aging school buses with propane-fueled vehicles.
