My name is Anna Artz, and this is my fifth year teaching 5th grade at Lakeridge. Teaching and learning are two of my greatest passions, and I feel extremely fortunate to pursue them daily with a classroom of bright young minds. I came to this fabulous community following an internship at The Evergreen School, an independent K-8 school for highly capable students in Shoreline, and a Master’s program in Elementary Education from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO (Go Royals!). I have lived in Seattle for 11 years, but I was born in Kansas City and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Kansas State University. I love to create and exhibit my own art, and will often integrate arts into other content areas with my students. In my free time I love to spend time outdoors with my husband and daughter, read as much as possible, and travel to visit friends and family around the country.
My priorities for students this year will be to cultivate a growth mindset across all areas of the curriculum, to foster a safe and respectful learning environment, and to ignite curiosity through instruction that incorporates art, technology, movement, and excellent literature.
