2020 K-5 Summer School
The Mercer Island School District will offer a three-week "Keeping Pace" 2020 summer program. It is available to current students in grades K-5 who meet the following criteria:
This extended learning opportunity aims to support the academic skills of our current Kindergarten through 5th-grade students in math and/or literacy. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in one or both areas. The fun, student-centered learning environment builds both skills as well as positive attitudes toward school.
- The student is enrolled in the Learning Support or English Language Program; or
- The student earned below a "3" in reading/writing or math on the second or third-trimester report card;
- The student did not earn a 3 or 4 on the Smarter Balance Assessment; or
- The student's teacher recommended them.
The elementary program will be at Northwood Elementary School. The dates for 2020 can be found below as well as other information.The Mercer Island School District is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to students.
Dates:July 6-10July 13-17July 20-24* Students may register for summer school even if families have prearranged dates when they will be traveling. A discount is not offered for missed days.
Hours:9:00 AM to 12:15 PM
Location:Northwood Elementary10:30 am-10:45 am – Recess
Daily Schedule9:00 am-10:30 am – Literacy
10:45 am-12:15 pm – Mathematics
Parents should pick up their children promptly and provide snack and water.
Participation and Tuition:Summer school has two sessions each day. The first is the literacy session and the second is the math session. Students may be signed up for one or both sessions.Tuition:
- Literacy only- $300 per student
- Math only- $300 per student
- Both literacy and math- $600 per student
Students may miss one or more days and still take part in the program. Missing days will, however, impact his/her overall benefit. Additionally, the District does not prorate the cost of participation based on student attendance.
Registration and Payment:
Please register through our online Summer School Registration link. The link will not be open until April 13, 2020.
To Pay for summer school, please use the online payment link. The online payment maynot be made until the student has been registered after April 13, 2020.
