• GREAT NEWS...WRESTLING IS BACK!

We are incredibly excited to announce that the 2021 Islander MS Wrestling season will be October 25-December 16. This will be as close to a traditional wrestling season as possible. We have six dual meets scheduled, with a finals meet to close the season on December 16 at Islander MS.

*** Please note that WIAA and DOH have designated Wrestling as a High-Contact Sport. As such, wrestlers must either provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination or be tested twice weekly throughout the season.   This is not optional and there are no exemptions or exceptions to this provision.  MISD will provide and administer rapid COVID-19 tests every Tuesday and Thursday morning at school to unvaccinated wrestlers. ***

HERE ARE THE NUTS & BOLTS:

    • Coach Ryan Hoisington is our Head Wrestling Coach. He will be working with parent volunteers, and maybe a few high school wrestlers to prepare our grapplers for competition.
    • Practice begins Monday, October 25. Practices will run 3:00-4:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday practices will run 1:30-3:00pm.
    • Activity buses will be available at 4:30pm to transport students from campus to home (3:00pm on Wednesdays). There is no activity bus on Fridays.
    • Athletes will NOT have access to the locker rooms and are encouraged to change in bathrooms or come to school in workout gear.
    • You can find a full competition schedule for wrestling in the links on the left.

ALL WRESTLERS MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Complete a Sports Eligibility Packet (or Sports Repeat Packet if they participated in Volleyball or Cross Country). These are available under the “Athletic Forms” tab.
    • Pay a $60 sports fee using the Intouch Payment System.
    • Wear a cloth mask that covers both the nose and mouth at all times (except while actively training or competing).
    • Wash hands thoroughly before and after each practice.
    • Wash practice clothes after each practice.
    • Follow all instructions from coaches regarding health and safety protocols.
    • All non-vaccinated wrestlers will be tested for Covid-19 twice weekly throughout the season. A positive test will result in quarantine protocols for that wrestler, and potentially other members of the team. Wrestlers will not be allowed to compete or travel without either proof of vaccination or a negative test result.
