Dear Lakeridge Families,

It’s hard to believe that 2016 is almost over.  On behalf of all the Lakeridge teachers and staff, I’d like to thank you for all your support in creating a wonderful, collaborative, fun, and safe learning environment for all of our students.  As I walk through the classrooms and visit with students, I am amazed to see how much growth they have made in the few months of the 2016-17 school year.  Students are digging deep into texts, having authentic discussions with their peers, asking each other high level questions, and challenging each other’s thinking in a respectful way.  They are hard working mathematicians and persevering through complex, multi-step story problems.  As writers, they published incredible personal narratives, zooming in to provide interesting details and learning to engage their readers.  I can’t wait to see what your students will do in 2017!

End of the day – Picking up students – Reminder

Please see the attached graphic of how the Kiss & Go lane works for student pick-up.  Please do not turn directly into the pick-up loop.  You must first turn right into the parking lot across the street from the school and get in line to then enter the pick-up loop.  Please ensure that anyone that picks your students up knows the pick-up procedures.  Thank you for helping to keep our system running smoothly!

 Emergency School Closure Information

In order to get immediate updates via email and/or text you must register with the Flash Alert Network at http://www.flashalert.net. Also, download the free FlashAlert Messenger iOS/Android app.   Questions about Flash Alert should be addressed to Director of Transportation David Bynum.

In the event schools must be closed early, students who ride buses will not be transported home and students that walk will not be dismissed to walk home. Early closures will be announced on the district web site, on flashalert.net, directly to flashalert.net subscribers, and by radio and TV stations.   Middle school and elementary students will remain under the supervision of school staff until parents or guardians can pick them up.  Standard student checkout procedures will be followed.

Enjoy the winter break and the extra time with your little ones!

Sincerely,

Jenny McAlaine

Lakeridge Elementary Principal
