KMIH, the Mercer Island High School student radio station, has rebranded as 88.9 The Bridge. The station offers students a unique lab environment for hands-on learning as they operate an FCC-licensed station.
 
 
Spotlight Fall 2016

Mercer Island Schools have introduced a new Elementary World Language program this fall, teaching Spanish to all students in grades K-5. Join us for a visit to Lakeridge Elementary and watch as students talk about how much they are enjoying the experience of learning a new language.

  • MISD closed to new non-resident enrollment for 2017-18

    March 28, 2017 – Mercer Island School District Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano announced that the district is closed to new non-resident student applicants, due to inadequate space, facilities and staff.   • Superintendent Plano's statement on the recent threat to the Stroum Jewish Community Center

    On February 27, our Mercer Island community was shaken and experienced a threat of violence, or in other words an act of domestic terrorism, against the Stroum Jewish Community Center. Our District condemns this threat of violence in the strongest terms possible, whether this reprehensible act was intended as an act of hate, anti-Semitism or otherwise intended as anti-immigrant. Read more...

About the District

Mercer Island is located in the middle of beautiful Lake Washington, within minutes of Seattle and Bellevue. It is joined with Seattle by the Interstate 90 floating bridge and Bellevue by the east channel bridge. The City of Mercer Island serves primarily as a residential community for about 24,000 people, most of whom are employed in professional and managerial positions in Seattle and the surrounding areas.
