Dear Northwood Families,
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful winter break and that you have returned to the school routines without any difficulty. The winter break presents such a significant period of our calendar, it is sometimes challenging to remember that we aren't yet even half way through our school year. We still have so much learning ahead of us this year!

Dr. Caprice Hollins

January provides us with several learning opportunities and activities. Our Northwood staff, alongside our elementary colleagues across the district, kicked off the 2017 year of learning with a powerful workshop led by Dr. Caprice Hollins of Cultures Connecting. Dr. Hollins provided the Keynote to our district staff at the start of this school year, and we are excited to continue our learning with her.

    January 9, 2017 – Mercer Island School District will begin accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2017-18 school year on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. For families seeking information about the district’s kindergarten program and registration process, kindergarten information sessions will be held at each elementary school from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31.     The Mercer Island School District is now seeking nominations for its second annual Pathfinder Awards. The award celebrates graduates of Mercer Island High School whose achievements, strength of character, and citizenship inspire and challenge today’s youth.   • MISD receives Apple Distinguished Program award for innovation and excellence and serves as model for other schools

    December 12, 2016 – The Mercer Island School District accepted its award as an Apple Distinguished Program for its implementation of iPad in the classroom at the December 8 School Board meeting.
